The heart of the Karoo, a fairy tale wedding........at Drostdy Hotel....... Spectacular place.
I fell in love with this venue.
If you are after a Karoo Wedding which is the in thing at the moment, you have to view The Drostdy Hotel in Graaff-Reinet.
The Drostdy Hotel offers a total of 48 beautifully styled rooms. Stretch’s Court incorporates 31 rooms, the Ferreira precinct hosts 7 rooms in their own secluded area and Kromm’s Court an additional 10 rooms. The Hotel offers the following room categories: 8 Bachelor Rooms, 17 Standard Rooms including 1 Paraplegic Room, 15 Executive Rooms and 8 Suites. They even have Complimentary Nespresso style pod coffee, herbal teas and biscuits in room. Brides to be..... Just imagine how nice your body feels after a visit to their Spa and getting into bed with crisp 100% Cotton bedding.......need I say more?
I was also very happy to have access to WIFI as I am a bit of a techi and need to access the internet on a daily basis.
As you can see more than enough accommodation for the perfect fairy tale wedding. You have to see the grounds to believe it! its a magical place!! When I saw this place it was like a Bridal Magazine Advert, a place I could never imagine existing in this historical town.
I also found it to be a very nice half way mark for guest travelling from Bloemfontein, Johannesburg, Pretoria and Cradock.....any of these surrounding areas can easily use this venue for a perfect fairy-tale wedding.
Just picture this beautiful setting in the garden with fairy lights in the trees and long tables with lanterns, Champaign and laughter.
I was pleasantly surprised to find that Graaff-Reinet is surrounded by the Camdeboo National Park, such a great attraction for the guests to enjoy.
You find out more here https://www.sanparks.org/parks/camdeboo/
You can also spice up your weekend with a helicopter flight over the Karoo area.

The on-site restaurant serves a selection of decadent meals and is open daily for breakfast lunch and dinner.
I had to send my complements to the chef as I found the food to be of very high standard and I always feel that we need to give credit where it is due.
Needless to say you cant go wrong with the food at your wedding, no matter what package you choose to go with, you will be happy with the professionalism, meals, service and of course with your wedding.
I really felt that they went out of their way to make it special, the people are just different in the Karoo, very hospitable.
I am very Happy to give the Drostdy-Hotel a full rating or even more if I could.

Due to the fact that I sometimes photograph high profile clients and celebrities, I am bound by contract and I can't upload their wedding photos. Some of the images above are supplied to give you a great idea of the venue.
Warren Bell & Joy Wentzel ties the knot
Eastern Capes very own Warren Bell has committed his life to Joy Wentzel in a beautiful ceremony at the Plantation in Port Elizabeth.
I was so honoured to do the wedding photography for this great couple.
Warren is a known Cricketer in the eastern cape region and is currently playing for Kimberly. Joy is a beautiful young woman that came into his life roughly about 10 years ago. They have made it through so much together.
Having a sports man in your life is not easy... they travel and play away from home all the time.
seeing them together has shown me how strong love can be between two people. how much they give to each other,
they are patient and kind to one another,
they do not keep record of wrongs,
not boastful in any way.
Their love concurs all.
I wish them well for their future together and with Warren in his cricket career!
From the moment I met this couple they were radiating! I could see that this man couldn't wait to make Helen his wife.
They tied the knot at Swan Lake Gardens, using the outdoor chapel was just perfect, the setting was stunning with lots of greenery around.
They are both teachers and from out of town, they popped over to PE, tied the knot joined by their families and are now back at home teaching our youths.
Some picks of their special day.
Marlo & Jo Anne made a promise to each other, they shared their hearts and became one. The biggest gift you can ever give is your heart.
We were thrilled to be a part of this special day!
" When I saw you
I fell in love, and
because you knew"
By William Shakespeare
This lovely couple had their wedding at Ukuphupha wedding venue in Kragga kamma,.
Jo Anne got dressed at home and set off to marry her prince.
The ceremony was held at the outdoor chapel, after which we first kidnapped them for a few photos before going back to proceed with the reception.
A great big thank you for making us a part of your special day!
Port Elizabeth Photographer Laetitia Pauw is proud to present some of her latest wedding photography on this page. This is a new addition to her website and hopefully we will update it as regular as possible.
